Our house …and other ways to pray with us

Many people have prayed many times about our house. We are so grateful for how the pray-ers on our support team have taken such an active role in our lives. Particularly, our house has been a major prayer topic for a while. As prayer items go… it’s a hog! But God has blessed us with our wonderful house on White Fence Way as He has always met our needs.

Since 2008, we have endeavored to sell our house 4 different times with 3 different realtors, have rented it 3 times, and then with the climactic cave in of the contract we had on the house falling through this last August, it became the necessary haven for our family in our time of need while extending our furlough. The Lord knows.

With the excitement of our ‘Return to Rwanda’ before us, the matter of our house is upon us. Through prayer and counsel we have made a decision to seek renters again instead of trying to sell. Friends with knowledge, ability and desire to help us have stepped up in offering their services toward assisting with the marketing for renting the house as well as the management while we’re in Africa. The advice we’re following relates to indications of the housing market conditions in our area improving. Instead of selling at the ‘bottom,’ our goal is to find renters, helping us to ride things out while the market improves upward.

There are some house-improvements to work on to get things ready. Most of them are small, normal preparations. But there is one major job for which we will be seeking help. The roof! It needs to be replaced. No leaks, no problems, it’s just that it’s 20 years old and needs to be attended to. Wanna help?!?

You can help us with finding good renters by putting the word out. It’s a good house in a good location (well that is if you’re wanting to live in the High Point – Greensboro area).

Will you pray for us about these house endeavors?

Below are some ongoing, current ways to join with us in prayer:

Pray with us...

  • that we will have success as we line up speaking engagements where we can share about our ministry and have others want to partner along with us in prayer and financially. We want to be efficient with our time and effective with our message. Adding new monthly supporters is very important.

  • that funds will be raised to pay for the expense of shipping the container to Rwanda.

  • for our Rwandan house – (with extending our furlough, we had to give up our other house in Kigali), we do not have new housing lined up at this point.

  • that we will have wisdom in our many details and decisions. From homeschooling to speaking engagements and purchasing needed items to the growing "to do" list - we need wisdom from The Lord to prioritize it all.

  • for traveling safety as we take a trip up North in February. We will be making our way to Jen's sister, Ronda and family for a visit as well as having the opportunity to share at their home church in all 3 services, hold meetings at some other churches in the area (including with Steve McEuen at Victory Highway Wesleyan), and while we’re in the up-state NY area, we’re very excited to respond to Houghton College’s interest in partnering with us through their band, orchestra, and music education students.

  • for Grace as she makes decisions about her future and the great opportunities she has in front of her. Pray that the transitions will be smooth for her as we return to Rwanda in May.

And of course…

  • our High Point house – which we’ve already featured above as a major prayer need. Pray that we will know the Lord's proper timing for moving out and for renters to come in. And pray for good renters for our situation.

Praise with us...

for all the instruments collected so far to send over.

for speaking engagements that have already been lined up.

for our friends who want to help us manage our house.

for the increase in giving that we've seen over the last month.

for the spiritual growth evidenced in each one of us during this extended furlough time.
