The Community Band is an ensemble designed to meet the needs of interested musicians with limited experience (1 to 3 years or less). Students from various schools in the Kigali area, as well as adults can join in the fun mix of music at a less demanding level than that of the Injyana Orchestra or Jazz Band.  Participation is limited to 5th grade or higher.  Interested, but have no prior musical experience?  Please see the section below on 'Private Lessons' to send us an inquiry email, or the new Beginning Strings Ensemble may be a consideration.

 

Have you played an instrument before, but need to a way to join in with others? The Community Band is for you.  Please note, that the band accommodates traditional band instruments, but not guitars or keyboards (If interested in those instruments, please see below about future potential projects, or the section entitled Private Lessons).

 

Learning an instrument requires dedication to hours of consistent practice.  With the ensemble only meeting once a week, it is strongly recommended to also pursue additional study on the instrument privately.

Rehearses each Wednesday 5-6pm @GHA (2nd term only - beginning in January 2019)

The cost is only 25,000 RWF for the entire 2018-2019 season. Members who are in more than one ensemble pay only 10,000 RWF for each additional ensemble. Payment will be due in cash at the first rehearsal.
